Subtracting with Multiple Units: Borrowing at the End

When working with multiple units, be they inches and feet, pounds and ounces, or fractions and whole numbers, we have an option when subtracting that we don’t when we’re just using regular numbers: we can break the problem apart and borrow at the end (no loan application needed).
The easiest way to explain this is to give an example.
